NEW YORK, NY
Security GRC2, a professional services organization that for ten years has implemented certified information-security and business-continuity management systems in the legal sector, announced today that it is changing its name to Resiliam. At the same time, the company also unveiled a new website.
Both changes are driven by a new and evolving mindset in the information-security industry. As threats proliferate and become more complex, a shift in emphasis is underway: from the stand-alone, cookie-cutter security protocols of yesterday to a more integrated approach, what Resiliam Managing Member Mike Johnson calls “organizational resilience.”
“Firms today face a wide range of potential threats,” says Johnson. “Anything from a weather-related disaster, to terrorism, cyber-attacks, theft, fraud and extortion can bring about a partial or full loss of infrastructure. Instead of thinking about security, risk, governance, continuity, and compliance as separate elements, we need to start thinking holistically, in terms of Organizational Resilience. That means seamless prevention, mitigation, resumption, and restoration.”
“Any organization that can absorb the impact of unexpected events and keep thriving becomes a less appealing target,” Johnson adds. “To that end we provide our clients with highly personalized plans, procedures and controls to safeguard the five key assets of any business: people, property, information, reputation and integrity. These are protected first and most aggressively. We define what needs to be protected, and why. Then we give clients the business processes to execute that plan.”
Over the last decade, GRC2 has worked with nearly fifty AmLaw 200 firms to achieve regulatory compliance, and since 2011, its client base has broadened into other sectors, including financial services and healthcare. “The demand for organizational resilience has expanded dramatically,” says Johnson. “For suppliers doing business with firms that are subject to regulation, it’s now essential to have proven, certified standards and processes in place that show they can prevent and bounce back from the new and widening range of potential threats.”
The new name is effective immediately, and will be implemented across the company’s services throughout the calendar year 2016.
